Comparative-Measurement Publication Review

The problem

Comparative measurement invites scrutiny of method before it invites scrutiny of result. A comparison that cannot show its denominator, its protocol, and its disagreement metric is an argument, not evidence.

What the reading shows

• Whether the comparison's method was disclosed before measurement.
• The denominator and disagreement metric applied to each comparison.
• Which comparative statements were observed to hold in the sample.

What it does not establish

• That publication is legally advisable — that is counsel's call, not a reading.
• Any statement that a compared subject is deceptive, unsafe, or ineffective.
