Versioned methodology and the definitions every reading is scored against.

Versioned, not revised in place

Methodology carries a version. A reading cites the version it was taken under. When the method changes, the version changes and prior readings continue to cite the version that actually governed them.

Definitions

• Observed - the position was measured under the disclosed protocol and a result was recorded.
• Not observed in this sample - the protocol reached the position and the behavior did not appear. This is not a claim that it never appears.
• NOT-MEASURABLE - the position could not be measured under the disclosed protocol. It is not scored and not estimated.
• Independent - the rebuild was performed by a party that did not take the reading and does not profit from it.
• Re-measurement - a later reading taken against an existing baseline under the same disclosed protocol.
• Void - the protocol moved after measurement, or a seal condition failed. A void reading is labelled void and retained, never quietly withdrawn.

Disagreement metric and denominator

Every comparative statement carries the denominator it was computed over and the disagreement metric applied. A comparison published without both is not a measurement we will stand behind, including our own.
